Here are some reviews of Moose Road - a Canadian Tragedy. Thanks for your positive reviews on Amazon and Goodreads

"I grabbed your book and headed for bed. This was about 7:30.
I turned out the light just after midnight.
I couldn't put it down!
... Your characters are so real and believable! I absolutely fell in love with the Road, and Santo's dad, Arthur broke my heart and I think we all know someone a little like Eunice...
Just wonderful!
I liked how you interjected the Road's thoughts midway, and I liked the ending!
The story is riveting. I felt like I knew these people!"

Susan Ruby K.

A review by Lucy Ann Spence:

"WOW !!! Just finished reading this fabulous book...Audrey, you have a winner here...thoroughly enjoyed it and held

my attention right to the end...."

Moose Road is an exciting story and the characters living on the same road were all so down to earth, and it is a story you will not want to put down

until you have finished reading it as I know I couldn't. There has been a lot of research put into this story and the author is to be commended on her

great work. Eleanor Lambert.

Shared thoughts about Moose Road - a Canadian Tragedy from Jean Gracie Anderson:

I am loving it! I am so amazed at your thought processes in putting such a book together! What a gift from God!

This review is from: Moose Road a Canadian Tragedy (Kindle Edition)
I give four stars for a really good story.
Who is to blame for the Moose Road Tragedy? Can Moose Road itself tell us?
Listen to the seven families as they give their accounts for what happened.
Do they blame each other? What conclusions do the insurance investigators draw?
Who does the judge blame? And why is murder committed after the enquiry?
To find out, you have to read, Moose Road.
It is a really good story.

From the Author

2012 was spent writing Moose Road - a Canadian Tragedy. Here in my home town of Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada we had recently suffered great losses due to a mall collapse which killed two people, injured others and of course deprived many of their jobs and businesses.

Moose Road is not about this mall collapse however my frame of mind while writing this story was influenced by all that was going on around me. And of course an Inquiry was happening here in the real world and I realized the importance to many of placing blame for what had occurred.

This was the bedrock of Moose Road - a Canadian Tragedy. My thought was what if no one is to blame? What if it were an accident? And, indeed, on Moose Road there is the accident between the snow plow and the school bus. There is an investigation; an inquiry and judgment is made. But what happens once this decision is made by the Judge is what shocks the small Town of Mansey and fills headlines across the nation.

I put my heart and soul into the characters who live along Moose Road. They became very real to me and I sometimes had a hard time keeping up with them.

I hope you enjoy the story.

Meet Wayne Ollick; Author of THE OVERVIEWER

THE OVERVIEWER by Wayne Ollick

This book is as timely as it could get! Today's political world is extremely polarized, pitting friend against friend and even brother against brother. The last time such polarization existed in the United States was just prior to the Civil War! Our situation today is like that of a bubble in that most people are oblivious to it and will continue to be until it bursts. The Overviewer explains what has happened to make us this way, warns of the calamity that could occur if we do not make changes in our thinking and lays out in detail what must be done to achieve those changes.

From the Author

The dawning of a new 'Age of Enlightenment'.
[The first 'Age of Enlightenment' occurred in the 1700s and was characterized by a strong usage of reason to challenge and change long-standing beliefs and practices that had led humankind to a perilous state, the same kind of state that we are in today!]

From the Back Cover

Today's world is confusing for most everyone. The Overviewer sees how we got where we are and puts our complicated life into perspective.

THE BABY BOOMERS. THEIR CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN HAVE GROWN UP UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES UNPARALLELED IN OUR HISTORY, CIRCUMSTANCES THAT HAVE TURNED OUR COUNTRY UPSIDE DOWN! NOW THE OVERVIEWER REVEALS THEIR PLIGHT, THAT WHICH EVEN THEY ARE NOT AWARE!

Wayne Ollick's book is available in both Kindle and Print format at all Amazon Sites
and Print format from Createspace.com

No Mercy for Magdalena

One of my short stories titled "No Mercy for Magdalena" is doing well in the Kindle Store.

#4 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Nonfiction > Parenting & Relationships > Parenting > Teenagers

Magdalena Macaire lives with her family in Greektown which is in the east end of Toronto, Canada. In her short life she has known nothing but violence. It's time for celebration. With her friend, Katie, she attends A Taste of The Danforth. There the girls meet local hoodlum, Andreas Christakos, and his buddies. Magdalena accepts a ride with these boys. Will she be driven to murder?

Like many young people Magdalena is disillusioned and very angry with her parents. She carries this anger out into the world and the consequences are deadly.

Being popular; needing to be popular is given too much importance in our world. Other more important things like getting a good education, maintaining good self-esteem and establishing good strong values are too often made to take a back seat. To quote from an old song I believe we need to "teach our children well"

This story is free today only. Check it out at http://www.amazon.com/author/audreyaustin

Keeping It Simple

For those who prefer the Kindle format it is available in all Amazon sites. Visit my author page at http://www.amazon.com/author/audreyaustin

From the Author

When I put together the pages of Keeping It Simple my thought was that if this book helps one person in this chaotic world I will feel I have accomplished a job well done.  I was unprepared for the number of people who have come to me and told me that the reading of this book for them has been positively life-changing.   For this I am happy and I am grateful.

Here are a couple of reviews of KEEPING IT SIMPLE

A very easy-to-understand explanation of chakras

By Anu

This is a well written book - very easy to understand the concept of chakras and the significance of each chakra. I am yet to try out the exercises for opening up each chakra. But if you are looking to familiarize yourself with the 7 chakras of the Indian/yogic tradition, I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Really is Possible to Heal

This manual is very well written which is to be expected of Audrey Austin who is a wonderful psychotherapy practitioner, author, and teacher. I was introduced to Keeping it Simple in 2011. At that time I was chakra illiterate. I had no idea that seven major chakras existed.

The manuscript is put together in a very sequential manner. The reader is given a methodical overview of meditation, psychospiritual therapy, and the chakra system. The straight forward approach on the practice of opening blocked chakras enables the reader to unite mind, body, and soul.
I have recorded the positive affirmations for each chakra. It is very comforting hearing my own voice as I meditate. I have been transformed into a healthier and happier person and am very grateful for Austin who has created such a wonderful resource on chakra meditation.

It really is possible to heal. Keeping it Simple has my Five Star rating because it has changed my life for the better.

My Writing Adventure ...

My most recent writing adventure is the creation, compilation and publication of a trilogy of anthologies containing short stories which keep the focus on social issues. These 36 stories will make you laugh; make you cry; and certainly make you simply wonder at the human condition as it is experienced by many in our modern contemporary world.

As a writer I am fulfilled when creating stories, characters, and situations which before never existed outside my imagination.

Crabapple Court is a novel; my current work in progress which will be launched in the fall of 2014.

I'm very excited to have my work made available to you through Kindle Books at http://www.amazon.com/author/audreyaustin and also in paperback format from Amazon as well as directly from createspace.com

Whether you choose one of my novels, a novella or a short story, I hope you will enjoy the read.
My offerings to date include 5 novels; 3 novellas; 1 personal growth manual; 4 anthologies; 3 stories for children; and numerous short stories which dare to stand alone. If you enjoy one of these short stories perhaps you will be persuaded to purchase the anthology in which it is included.

"Keeping It Simple" which explores the trinity of Meditation, the Seven Major Chakras and Psychospiritual therapy is also available as a Kindle book.

In paperback format available through Amazon.com and through createspace.com are my novels Sara, a Canadian Saga and Moose Road - a Canadian Tragedy and also SOCIAL STUDIES - Books one, two and three. Soon these will be joined by my novels Reawakening and also Ellen and The Hummingtree.

Currently a very few paperback copies of Reawakening are available from the author: audrey@persona.ca

BELOW is a little bit about some of my publications:

Moose Road - a Canadian Tragedy
Author: Audrey Austin, Cover design: Susan Ruby k.
A tragic accident between a snow plow and a school bus takes place on Moose Road. Who is to blame? Seven farms line Moose Road. Everyone has a story but maybe the road itself is the only one who can come close to the truth in the matter. Each of the residents on Moose Road feels the impact of this tragic event but the aftermath is one that shocks the entire nation.

ELLEN and THE HUMMINGTREE:
Author - Audrey Austin -- Cover design - Susan Ruby K., artist, also did all the illustrations throughout the book.
Ellen and The Hummingtree is a fictional, magical and mystical account of the memoirs of Ellen Dawson exploring many social issues: child abandonment; deadbeat dads; separation & divorce;financial struggle; family relationships; infidelity; love on line; aging; women's issues; Alzheimer's; death and dying. She is a composite of many beautiful, spiritual women I have known.
Ellen always finds the hope, support and encouragement she needs when she prays to her God in the yellow quartz rock beneath the Hummingtree.
At the outset of this writing journey I met Ellen. I became acquainted with her and now, after knowing her for more than a year, I can say that I truly like her. She has the courage of her convictions and no matter what life threw at her, Ellen never lost faith. Feedback from readers of Ellen and The Hummingtree has been very positive.

Sara, a Canadian Saga
Author: Audrey Austin.
ABOUT SARA, a Canadian Saga
The time is 1916. Sara is a 10 year old girl in rural Prince Edward Island. Roy is a 10 year old boy in mining town, Nova Scotia.
Through their eyes we see, feel and experience their childhood challenges. We follow them through adolescence and their turbulent teen years.
We celebrate their courtship and suffer their lost innocence in the marriage ritual. They take us through the Great Depression and share with us the frustrations, dreams and challenges they face in adulthood.
As parents they introduce us to their children.
This story appeals to all ages because Sara and Roy hold up a mirror and ask the reader to recognize truth about the human condition for many Canadian families through difficult economic times.
We witness love that does not come neatly wrapped and experience the quiet, sometimes desperate, drama of lives unfolding.
You will find SARA, the Kindle book and in paperback format on http://amazon.com/author/audreyaustin as well as from createspace.com

REAWAKENING
Author: Audrey Austin, Cover design: Susan Ruby K.
An excerpt from REAWAKENING...by Audrey Austin
"Linda and Jim were happy together in their marriage. Each day brought forth new and interesting challenges for the industrious couple. Life was good. Unfortunately, it was too good to last. Years flew by and Jim was now becoming an old man, even by Earth's standards. When he suffered the massive coronary he left his young heart-broken wife a childless widow.
She mourned. She grieved.
Linda was a beautiful woman, bright, vivacious and caring. After her husband's death she had many opportunities to date. Several men admired her and wanted to spend time with her but she chose not to go out with anyone. She had no desire to date and she never remarried. Jim was her one and only true love.
Linda grew old as her husband before her had grown old. She died a peaceful death.
And then it happened..............."
Reawakening is available as a Kindle book at http://amazon.com and in paperback format from the author.   (I have a few copies on hand.  audrey@persona.ca

THE SILENT STAR PLUS A DOZEN --
Author: Audrey Austin, Cover design: Susan Ruby K.
Below are excerpts from three of the thirteen stories contained in this anthology which deals with important social issues impacting our lives today.

THE SILENT STAR.....previously published in Confab 3, Wynterblue Anthology, North Bay, 2010
an excerpt: "My dreams made no sense to me. They held no relevance to my reality. As foolish as it sounded, even to me, I wished Joseph would come into my dreams and interpret them for me. But, of course, he didn't. I did love the rose garden I often dreamed of though and I got into the habit of keeping a red rose in a bud vase on top of the dresser in my room. I didn't know why the rose was so important to me. I just knew that it was."

IN CONTROL..previously published in Confab 2, Wynterblue Anthology, North Bay, 2009
an excerpt: "Mary, come with me this afternoon to look at the cottage lots. Come with me, please?" he asked.
"Come with you? Come with someone I know nothing about? You must be crazy!"
"Be crazy with me, Mary. Just once take a chance. Let go of control and have some fun."
"Fun," Mary mused. "I don't remember the last time I had any fun."

THE BIG BOOK..Previously published in Confab 2, Wynterblue Anthology, North Bay, 2009
an excerpt: "Come on into the alley with me, baby. I'll share my bottle with you.
Gwendolyn hesitated, then thought, what am I worried about? He can't kill me if I'm already dead. "I'll come into the alley with you on one condition," she stated.
"One condition? What condition you talking about? I'm not into making deals, you know. I just want to share a little drinkie-poo with you."
"It will cost you."
"Cost me? Are you a pro? Lordy, I never would have taken you for a pro, little lady. Aren't you too old for that kind of monkey business?"
Feeling insulted, Gwendolyn replied, "Why, the nerve! I don't know which is the bigger insult; calling me a pro or telling me I'm too old to be one."

This anthology containing 13 short stories is available as a Kindle book at Amazon.com

KEEPING IT SIMPLE - Imagine being whole:
Emotional Healing through Meditation, the Chakra System & Psychospiritual
Therapy
KEEPING IT SIMPLE is available as a Kindle book on Amazon.com and will soon be available in paperback format.
It is a work of non-fiction by Audrey Austin
Cover Design by Susan Krupp: Yuneekpix.com

Simplicity in meditation, as in life, is an admirable goal but it is not always easy to be simple.
Life, with its myriad of challenges, has a habit of doing its best to get in the way. Nevertheless we keep our focus on this goal and feel grateful when it is achieved.

If you click on a book cover you will then see an option to "like" the book.

Thank you to those of you who have read my books for your positive review.

Recompense

One of my novellas is  titled "Recompense".

Maurice Wilson lives in Salt River, a small town near Cape Town, South Africa. He is the son of a black father and a Caucasian mother. After the sudden death of his parents he makes the decision to move to High River, Alberta, Canada, the place of his mother’s birth in search of a sense of belonging. He becomes a Canadian citizen, is employed as a mail carrier for Canada Post. The morning of his first day on the job he meets Alison Pierce, a plain woman whose silent passions run deep. Shortly into her relationship with Maurice all her hopes for fulfillment plummet however she continues to live with him for more than twenty-five years. In their later years Maurice and Alison become acquainted with the Internet and with the Senior Befriender Chat Room. When temptation with the name of Conrad enters their lives the shared bonds of loyalty and trust are put in jeopardy. Will deception rule the day?

Bringing two worlds together was my goal in bringing together Maurice from Salt River, Capetown, South Africa and Alison, a postal clerk in High River, Alberta, Canada. Cultures blend but passion is lacking. I thought of these two people living together as a couple; not too unlike many couples who live together for years in unsatisfactory boring relationships. Then I thought what if, when they reach their senior years, something happens to wake them up? That's when I decided to introduce Conrad and the Senior Befriender Chatroom. Writing "RECOMPENSE' was an enjoyable challenge. Most of us are unused to reading about senior men and women in romantic situations .......... I thought maybe it is time that I write something that will make us see our elders through new eyes.

My author page is found at http://www.amazon.com/author/audreyaustin

Beyond The Blue

One of my novellas is titled "BEYOND THE BLUE"

BEYOND THE BLUE is a coming of age novella. 12 year old Anthony Breckenheimer is a clever boy with blue eyes, red hair and like his father he is a little on the chubby side. He lives in the big City of Toronto with his mother, his little brother Ronald and his little sister Leona. His father died a year ago and Anthony misses him greatly especially when he is confronted by bullies on his way to and from school; the biggest and baddest one being Jerry Hasselbergen. One day while in his classroom Anthony discovers a magical window. What he sees through this window and beyond the blue changes his life forever.

BEYOND THE BLUE is a story that takes place in a Toronto neighbourhood way back in the 1950's. I actually remember those days well. Bullying was a problem then as it is today although to a lesser degree in that in those days it was rare that weapons be used or that drugs be involved. Yes, it was more innocent but make no mistake, for the child being bullied it was a harrowing experience. "Enigami" is the message beyond the blue but what on earth can that possibly mean? This coming-of-age story is one I believe many young children will find believable and inspiring. I hope you will enjoy it too.

BEYOND THE BLUE is available in the Kindle Store.

When God Gives Us Spring ...

One of my novellas is titled "When God Gives Us Spring".

Michael Custis Washington is a young black slave living on a cotton plantation in the Province of Virginia. He was born in 1802. Left an orphan a...t the age of five he is taken into the big house by his master, Alfred Gordon, to be trained as a house servant. While in this house he suffers severe emotional and sexual abuse. When he finally runs away with his wife Lucinda he is helped by the Quakers. Through the Underground Railway they reach the Elgin Settlement in Ontario, Canada. Freedom is his at last. But when the American Civil War breaks out in 1861 Michael chooses to join the Union Army. He works his way back to Virginia. Is he seeking justice or vengeance?

"God Gives Us Spring" is a novella that required much research before I even began to put pen to paper. I learned much about the history of slavery in early America and also about the role of the Quakers in assisting slaves into Canada via the Underground Railway. I very much enjoyed writing God Gives Us Spring and I hope you will enjoy the story.

Quest for Cammirand

The Kindle Edition of one of my short stories titled "Quest for Cammirand" is off to a good start this morning.

#29 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Mystery > Private Investigators
#58 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Crime Fiction > Murder

Peter Lowenza is an insurance investigator in search of a woman, Cammirand Gauthier, whose husband Jessie Gauthier has died. Cammirand is beneficiary of his estate and stands to inherit millions of dollars. She had been abandoned by her parents at an early age, abused and deceived by her husband, Jessie Gauthier, who was known to be a ruthless businessman. Rumour has it he was also an abusive husband. Is this why Cammirand has disappeared? It is the insurance investigator's job to find her. What happened to Cammirand Gauthier? Peter sets out on a quest.

"Quest for Cammirand" is a short story written for a mature audience exploring as it does social issues including spousal abuse; rape; deception; betrayal, murder and other topics of a sensitive nature. It is not a story for young readers. I love writing short stories and, as is often the case, with this story I found that, once I got started, the characters took the lead and it was all I could do to keep up with them. I hope you enjoy the story.

When God Gives Us Spring .........

One of my novellas titled "When God Gives Us Spring" is free today only in the Kindle Store.

BEYOND THE BLUE - a coming of age novella

One of my novellas is free today only in the Kindle Store.

BEYOND THE BLUE is currently #82 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Family Life

The Face In The Mirror .....

One of my short stories in Kindle format titled "The Face In The Mirror" is free today only on all Amazon sites.

In our fast-paced modern world too many young people are walking alongside the track .... some are way off track. It is in the nature of young people in their teen years to rebel. Today that rebellion too often involves gangs, drugs, and violence. My heart goes out to these young people and I pray that most, like the young man in this story, will find the courage and strength to be the best they can be.

Randolph is a gang member. Rumbles and motorcycles are his big city way of life. He has made a lot of wrong choices in life. What happens when little brother Jimmy becomes his full responsibility?

This morning the Kindle Store rating for "The Face In The Mirror" is #71 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Family Life
