Tomorrow, Sunday May 4th, the Kindle edition of my first novel, Sara, a Canadian Saga will be free on all Amazon sites.
Unorthodox Mama's review
5 of 5 stars
I loved it.
Sara focuses on the lives of Sara, Roy and their immediate family. But you do get a feel of what times are like for everyone.
It was an easy read. Sara is by far my favourite. Roy was a close second until I saw the kind of temper he grew into.
Sara would be a great addition in the Canadian English class.
This is a great read if you are interested in Canadian historical fiction, stories that are of the same or similar fabric of Little House or are just looking for a great read.
From the Author
Sara, a Canadian Saga is my first novel. Based on the harsh reality of life during the days of the Great Depression we follow one family. The story starts in the Maritime Provinces of Canada. The struggling economy is the deciding factor for Roy who makes the move to Toronto leaving Sara and their then two children behind in Prince Edward Island. Once he secures employment Sara and the children join him. More children follow and the Canadian Dream is more elusive than ever.
Sara, a Canadian Saga is available in both Kindle and Print format at all Amazon sites.

Paulette, Molinda and Anthony are a tough trio. Even in childhood they stuck together and did their best to provide protection to one another from their abusive mother. Grown up now, it's another Mother's Day. Together they plot their revenge.

This review is from: THE HOLE IN THE WALL (Short Stories - Social Issues) (Kindle Edition)
A very short tale about a woman's faith that the Lord will provide.
Also a rather sad look at "golden years" that can be as tough as those of young people just starting out.
Thank you for your positive review.

This review is from: PASSION FOR STAYING PUT - a short story (Short Stories - Social Issues) (Kindle Edition)
A short story about a husband and wife who are trying to cope with the loss of their daughter.
Bitterness, blame and guilt are the predominant (and largely unspoken) themes here.
Sad- but well written.

This review is from: Keeping it Simple: Imagine Being Whole (Kindle Edition)
As a practitioner of yoga and meditation, Keeping It Simple: Imagine Being Whole by Audrey Austin intrigued me. Austin explores and explains each of the chakras in easy to understand terms complete with exercises to get the reader in touch with the individual chakras. She simplifies the mysticism surrounding the chakras and gives the reader a sense of the power of paying attention to one's chakras as well as the role each chakra plays in balancing one's energy and therefore one's life. Anyone looking for a better understanding of the basic idea of chakras or even those just interested in better understanding why they feels more balanced after yoga and/or meditation will find Austin's Keeping It Simple: Imagine Being Whole interesting.
Thank you to all my readers. Your positive reviews mean the world to me. Keeping It Simple is available in both Kindle and print format at all Amazon sites. Visit my author page at http://www.amazon.com/author/audreyaustin

This review is from: Moose Road a Canadian Tragedy (Kindle Edition)
Austin has written a not so simple story, weaving the lives of multiple residents on Moose Road around one tragic accident that leaves no one on the road or in the nearby Northern Ontario Canada town untouched. The subplots tug at our desire to comfort some residents of this town with a hug and those same subplots yank at our exasperation switch yelling at us to slap sense into some of these same people. The main story cries for our attention and gets it.
Austin is able to show us one tragedy from every point of view except the moose. The characters are so real that I wonder what Austin's neighbors thought about having their secret lives dragged into the public view. I started this book just to have something to read in between my own chores. However... to heck with the chores, I finished the book in one sitting.
Moose Road - a Canadian Tragedy is available at all Amazon sites in both Kindle and print format.

At The Edge of His World
AT THE EDGE OF HIS WORLD is a short story for children. I was inspired to write this story when my own stone garden retaining wall was being demolished and a new more modern and stable one was being constructed. My own chipmunk was frantic and I felt very sorry that we were, of necessity, destroying his home. It was either take the wall down or wait a while longer while it fell down of its own accord. I was also very relieved once my new wall was built to see the little fellow under the Forsythia bush near a small hole in the ground which I knew was his brand new entrance into his new home ........ so this is a short fictional story for children based on this author's true experience. I hope your children enjoy the story and I hope you do too.

Dying To Be Popular -- a short story free today on Amazon sites
A young teen's fashion sense is determined by what can be found to fit in Pennington's. She can no longer pretend to be happy; not even to please her mother. Why did she suddenly desire to be unattractive? When no one arrives for her birthday party she knows what she needs to do.
DYING TO BE POPULAR
She chooses to be obese and suffers the ridicule, unpopularity and bullying as a result. How very sad that no one ever takes the time to discover what it is that this young teenager is doing her best to hide. The number of teen suicides is a frightening statistic in our western society; one to which a reader's attention will be drawn through the reading of this story. Feeling alone, alienated and unable to reach out to someone for help and understanding it's a sad fact that it is not uncommon for a teenager to reach out to food for comfort. Emotional eating that leads to this young girl's death reminds us that all addictions kill sooner or later in one way or another.

From the Author
The relationship between Uncle Farlan and his young niece is enduring. Yes, he taught her to respect and always remember their Scottish heritage but even more important is the loyalty and love the two share throughout life up to the day of his death. Alzheimer Disease is a terrible thief. But even Alzheimer could not steal Farlan's memory of the secret he shared with his niece.

REAWAKENING
Reawakening is a novel that reveals itself in a place called Notsew. Here is a story that takes the reader on a journey, along with the story's characters, far from earth. In this place called Notsew the powers that be have great curiosity. They want to learn more about why human beings do the things they do and mostly they want to learn about some strange phenomena best described as emotion. The story's characters find themselves unwilling participants in an experiment.
I dedicated this story to my dear sister, Muriel, because she just loved it. Of all the things I had written this was her favourite. And though my sister is now also far from earth the love we shared continues to make me feel as close to her as ever.
Although I didn't know it at the time I wrote Reawakening, I believe there were greater forces at work. Why do I think this? Because the love my sister & I continue to share is the kind of love shared by the characters in this story. Nothing and no one - not even death - can lessen the power of love.
Audrey Austin is happily retired and living with her best friend, Brian, in Elliot Lake, ON. "Reawakening" is Audrey's second novel. Her first novel, "SARA, a Canadian Saga", is in its fourth print run and, like Reawakening, is now available in both Print and Kindle format on all Amazon sites

About Reawakening:
Unlike many of their acquaintances they stayed in love and they stayed married for many years. Jim was now an old man, even by earth's standards, when he suffered the fatal coronary. He left his young wife a childless widow. She mourned. She grieved. She never remarried. Jim was her only love. Linda grew old as her husband before her had grown old. She died a peaceful death.
And then it happened . . .

Editorial Reviews
Review
With regard to this book let me share with you one review by Maggie Kirton who is the Executive Director of Wynterblue Publishing Canada.
She writes, "Every now and then a manuscript comes across my desk that completely captivates me. Austin has reached inside the human heart and removed all boundaries pertaining to everlasting love ... and her ability to play with the English language successfully is astounding.
Austin's Reawakening is a must read. It will take you into a land not far from your heart and bring you back to earth again believing that all things are possible with love and hope."
Another review of REAWAKENING:
" Let me first wipe my droplets of moisture from my eyes. Some shed from sadness of a love so strong and true, that never seems to be a " togetherness of two the way I would hope. Then some shed for the amazing job Austin did in making me laugh at the craziness of our "human" lives.
"Reawakening" is a story I could not give anything less than 5 stars too. It is a love story, mixed with sci-fi, also mixed with drama and the comedy that sneaks up if you have the ability to laugh at oneself. Would I go as far as calling this book a romance...no I cannot! It is a book of love, true love, something many think they know, but will realize if by this story very few may actually have it right. A love on earth were age, appearance were not important to the two involved, happiness, comfort, and love was without a question in their lives. A must read for men and women.
