"Judge Terrance Gordon had studiously gone over and over again all the information pertinent to the Moose Road collision. Now he spent his morning shuffling through the reports that had been given to him the month prior by Stanley Shaw. The reports had been prepared by both insurance investigators; Stanley Shaw and Marsha Mandell. He had also viewed the photos taken at the scene of the accident.
Judge Gordon was contemplative. An observer would especially take note of the permanent creases in his forehead which sat upon bushy white eyebrows. He was tired. Sometimes he wondered if he should consider moving up his retirement date. Nothing was ever simple anymore.
It wasn't easy reaching a fair judgment when the older he became the more he realized that nothing is black or white; hot or cold; wet or dry. That fuzzy gray area seemed to grow larger over the years while his white hair grew sparser."
