Elliot Lake Writers' Fall Festival........

First Annual Elliot Lake Writers’ Fall Festival

Members of the Elliot Lake Writers' Workshop are planning their very first Elliot Lake Writers' Fall Festival, a one day event, to be happening on Saturday, October 22nd, 2011.

We will be having an Authors' Reading Circle as well as Vendor Tables for book signings and sales.  We hope authors from throughout Central and Northern Ontario will be interested in participating along with Elliot Lake writers.  Authors are invited to participate in our ongoing Reading Circle that day.  We plan to have a reader presenting at all times throughout the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.   All authors are welcome to add their name to the schedule and participate. Those authors who have books to promote may do so in this way as we will be offering vendors' tables at a reasonable cost.

I have earlier posted a flyer about our Elliot Lake Writers' Fall  Festival 2011.  I will continue promotional postings throughout the year which will keep you updated with information regarding our honoured guest workshop facilitators; Brian Henry who will teach us "How to Get Published" and Dr. Ross Pennie who will instruct us in the art of "Memoir Writing".

I will tell you more about writing competitions and the Book Fair.

And along with exciting workshops, on October 22nd Elliot Lake Writers will launch their first short story anthology (open to Elliot Lake Writers' Workshop members only).

However, participants at our Festival will be invited to enter an in-place very short flash writing competition with two prizes to be awarded;  one for children and one for adult writers.

I will be updating this blog on a regular basis to keep everyone informed of what's happening.  It is never too early to get a jump start on valuable word of mouth  so please tell your friends about our exciting Festival.

All events will be happening at the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre, Elliot Lake, on Saturday, October 22nd, 2011.

A Gala Dinner with after dinner guest speaker, Dr. Ross Pennie, award winning medical mystery novelist, will follow.  This dinner will take place at the Renaissance Centre which is just across the road, within walking distance, of the Civic Centre.

This project is close to my heart.  It means a lot to me and to Elliot Lake Writers to celebrate, with you, the joy of creative writing.

Plan on joining our celebration!  It will be a very special day!

Audrey Austin,
   Secretary, Elliot Lake Writers' Workshop.

I don't think you have missed anything, from the ELWW to out and about in The Jewel in the North..

I know this must take a great deal of work and planning so thanks a lot for keeping all of us in the loop.
