Today at the mall........

Today in the mall as I did my shift with the Salvation Army Kettle I had a wonderful time. People, even strangers, smiled and stopped to chat.  In spite of difficult economic times the community was very generous in its charitable giving.

For the first time this afternoon, for just a little while, I felt a true sense of the giving, loving spirit of Christmas.

The feeling was fleeting but genuine.

As I type this I feel a smile, a memory, and a wish.......yes, soon it will be Christmas Day.
