"Ellen, why do you talk to me about blame and fault? Have I not said to you, "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven; for He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust?"
"Yes, Lord, I do remember reading that New Testament verse in the Book of Matthew but what does it mean? Carol blames me for her marriage break-up. Is it possible that, because I could not keep my own marriage intact, my children will be cursed to share the same fate? Family patterns are so hard to alter, Lord. Am I asking for the impossible?"
"Ellen, you talk to me about curses and fate. My child, where is your faith? I understand it goes against your human nature, and it takes genuine concern, to pray for blessing and to love your enemy but I know you can do this. Just let it go. Let it go and let me handle this for you."
"I'm trying to let it go, Lord. I want to hand it all over to you but when Carol told me this morning that everything was my fault, I collapsed under her accusation. Dear God, is it my fault that poor little Lucien is growing up without a father's love?"
"Ellen, you must forego these thoughts of fault and blame. My child, pray for fairness and soundness in thinking. Know that Carol loves you just as you love her. Know that you both love Lucien and this is what the child will know. I promise you, Lucien will not grow up without a father's love. Am I not his Heavenly Father?"
"Yes, Lord."
