The first in the family to be born in Canada Jie Ke struggles with the cultural demands of his conservative Buddhist family. He is determined to open a business called Jack's Tavern but his Grandfather has something to say about the proposition. What will Jie Ke do when he hits a wall of Chinese family tradition?
It is quite common for children born in Canada of immigrant parents to have a struggle when trying to convince their parents and grandparents, whose ways and traditions are a strong reflection of their cultural upbringing and background, to be more liberal in their thinking. Most often the children rebel but sometimes, as in the case of this young man, understanding is found and the outcome can be quite surprising.
