Admission to the Elliot Lake Writers' Fall Festival is free. It's all happening Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
ALSO FREE OF CHARGE is the Book Fair -- here is your opportunity to meet local authors and also authors from Blind River, Gore Bay Manitoulin, Nairn Centre, Dunsford, New Liskeard and Toronto. Authors are there for sales & signings.
17 members of Elliot Lake Writers' Workshop have their stories & poems published in an anthology titled Penpourri - Elliot Lake Writers' Anthology of Stories and Poems. The book launch of this anthology will be happening in the Book Fair.
ALSO FREE are the Podium Presentations which are author readings taking place in the auditorium of the Civic Centre. Paul McIlvried will be Master of Ceremonies and you will enjoy not only local writers reading their works but also the writings of authors from Halton Hills, Blind River, Nairn Centre, Dunsford, New Liskeard, Webbwood, Manitoulin, Thessalon and Hamilton. Author readings will commence at 9 a.m. and continue all day until closing at 5 p.m.
ALSO FREE is participation in the Writing Competitions. The theme is COSTUMES. These are in-place flash writing competitions. Your entry will be contained on one page though you may use both sides of the page if you wish. Entries will be judged and there will be a prize for both adult and child competitors.
ALSO FREE is the entertainment throughout the day by pianists Ken Little and Denis Morel. You will also enjoy being entertained by Mime Artist, Fran Perkins.
J. Breen Coffee will be on tap and there will be a free draw -- here's your chance to win a new coffee maker.
Local artist, Anne Gagnon, has contributed a piece of her beautiful pottery. You will have a chance to own it if yours is the winning bid in the Silent Auction.
It's going to be an amazing fun day to remember -- Saturday, October 22nd. Come along, bring the family and enjoy yourself at the Civic Centre from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome and, yes, it is FREE ADMISSION.
Two workshops are being offered at the Elliot Lake Writers' Fall Festival. From 9 a.m. to noon Dr. Ross Pennie is presenting a workshop titled "Memoir Writing" and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Brian Henry is presenting a workshop titled "How to Get Published"
