This  very well written manual  is by Audrey Austin; a wonderful therapist, author, and teacher.  

 
This book is written in a  sequential manner.  A reader is given a methodical overview of meditation, psychospiritual therapy, and the chakra system.  Learning to open  blocked chakras enables the reader to unite mind, body, and soul.

I am very grateful for Austin who has created such a wonderful resource on chakra meditation.
It really is possible to heal. Keeping it Simple has my Five Star rating. It has changed my life for the better.

A very easy-to-understand explanation of chakras

This is a well written book - very easy to understand the concept of chakras and the significance of each chakra. I am yet to try out the exercises for opening up each chakra. But if you are looking to familiarize yourself with the 7 chakras of the Indian/yogic tradition, I highly recommend this book.

I find it very interesting that the residents of the seven farms impacted by the tragedy each retain a different personal memory of the accident and its aftermath. Although I am well aware that it would not occur to any ordinary human that an old long-travelled country road could possibly have the capacity to remember, I can assure you that I do. Yes, indeed, I do have a memory. Even though I am very old it remains a good one. I do remember well.

Some thoughts give me reason to smile while other memories I would prefer to forget.

BEYOND THE BLUE is a coming of age novella. 12 year old Anthony Breckenheimer is a clever boy with blue eyes, red hair and like his father he is a little on the chubby side. He lives in the big City of Toronto with his mother, his little brother Ronald and his little sister Leona. His father died a year ago and Anthony misses him greatly especially when he is confronted by bullies on his way to and from school; the biggest and baddest one being Jerry Hasselbergen. One day while in his classroom Anthony discovers a magical window. What he sees through this window and beyond the blue changes his life forever.

BEYOND THE BLUE  is a story that takes place in a Toronto neighbourhood way back in the 1950's.   I actually remember those days well.  Bullying was a problem then as it is today although to a lesser degree in that in those days it was rare that weapons be used or that drugs be involved.   Yes, it was more innocent but make no mistake, for the child being bullied it was a harrowing experience.   "Enigami" is the message beyond the blue but what on earth can that possibly mean?  This coming-of-age story is one I believe many young children will find believable and inspiring.   I hope you will enjoy it too.

It was an easy read.  Sara is by far my favourite. Roy was a close second until I saw the kind of temper he grew into.

Sara would be a great add in the Canadian English class.

This is a great read if you are interested in Canadian historical fiction, stories that are of the same or similar fabric of Little House or are just looking for a great read.

Celebrating 65,000 visitors to my blog as of today

This blog, Calling All Writers, is celebrating because as of today I have had 65,000 visitors to this site.

I am also celebrating this summer my eighth creative writing anniversary. 

To date I have published 18 books including poetry, short story anthologies, books for children, novellas and novels.   You could say I've been busy.

I have also written two plays.  One titled Chocolate Cookies  has been produced and presented, and the second titled On The Radio is one that I am currently transforming into a novel.

More recently I have written some song lyrics.  One, Listen To Love, is co-written with John Cal who beautifully performs the song.   The second, I Followed My Heart, is co-written with Kimberly Arnold, who has chosen this song, performed by her, to be a part of her album which was recently recorded in Nashville.  Congratulations Kim!

The third song titled Too Late is a song for which I wrote the lyrics, the melody, and I perform the song accompanied by the talented John Cal who composed the beautiful music.  You will find this song on my Facebook page and also on YouTube.

In addition to all this I've written numerous short stories which dare to stand alone in the Kindle Store while some of them have also found their way into anthologies.

I am, indeed, a proud Indie Author; open to learning, growing, and trying new things.  Life is good and life goes on.

In addition to this blog, Calling All Writers,  I also have Rhymes and Times Remembered; a place where poets come together to share their work and I also offer Small Town Authors, a place for writers, published or unpublished.  There they can promote their  work by sharing their short stories or excerpts from their books.

On Facebook I have individual pages for many of my books and drawing on my background as psychospiritual practitioner,  I have written a book which focuses on emotional healing.  This book is titled Keeping It Simple; Imagine Being Whole.    More recently I have published a book of quotations and sayings in a small book titled Simply Be.   In addition,  I have a page which I've titled Therapy Thursday from which I hope you will receive some benefit.   I also try to remember to post each week on Gratitude Friday.

Creative writing is my passion.

I post often to this blog, mostly to let you know about books that are being offered free in the Kindle Store, but on occasion, when the spirit moves me, I do some actual blogging.

Recently I enjoyed participation in the Elliot Lake Arts & Culture Trade Show.  Thanks to those who purchased a book that day.   I will be participating in the Elliot Lake Trade Show happening the weekend of May 1st at the local arena.  I will be there with my books and hope to see you there.

My current work in progress is titled All Them Houses.   I am often encouraging others to write their memoir and this year I am taking my own advice.  I can truthfully state that my life so far has been nothing, if not interesting, and I am enjoying recording my memories before they decide to fly away.

A Writer Working At Home ........

To be a writer at home one must be prepared for any eventuality.   Eventuality is a fancy word for those things that pop up and demand our participation; things such as cooking, laundry and family responsibilities.  Yep, now I've got your attention.

And of course when working at home as a writer others, including your family and friends, think you are just playing around on the computer and they believe you should be available to do the grocery shopping, the preparation for luncheons or  to sit on committees for all sorts of worthy causes.  And so, of course, you make yourself available because in your heart, yes, you really do want to give back to your community.

And if you are a writer using alternative publishing methods you soon discover that you need to learn how to be a promoter, a marketer, a salesman, a publicist, a networker, a bookkeeper and a distributor. 

Of course there are rewards for a writer's labour.  On occasion you will receive a thank-you for all that you do or a reader will get in touch with positive feedback on your latest release.  

But sometimes you will overhear, "Does he need to send so darn many promotional emails?" 

A writer needs to learn how to block this type of negativism.  Let's face it, if this person does not know how to stay quiet and simply  hit the delete button then he cannot be expected to be supportive of another's efforts.  

Besides it is all worthwhile when you receive the response, "Thanks for your email.  Please put me down for two copies of your book."   Amen! 

It's all a learning curve.  And if it is not always fun, it is always interesting. 

Sometimes though the world cooperates.  Everything flows and you find the time to meet with your characters and you are able to do what you love to do.  You write. 

Yes, sometimes a writer working at home does find some time to write.   It may be at  two in the morning but whenever it happens the sun shines and all is well; at least in this writer's world.

I have started to read a really good book - Dinner at Seven - written by Audrey Austin. Thank you, Audrey. It is really enjoyable probably because the story-line is located in Toronto!
I would like to see more people enjoy this love story - couldn't put it down and finally went to bed at 4am!

 Once again Audrey has formulated a wonderful suspense of life and love. The young lady thinks as most women that to be comfortable in a relationship is really love. When she find that she is embroiled in a passionate and all encompassing relationship, she starts to question her life and her ability to trust. A very good read.
