The Linen Cupboard .. free in the Kindle Store, Friday, March 2nd

It is moving day; a most difficult time. Not only is she saying good-bye to the house but also to her mother. She feels okay though, keeping herself together, until she reaches the linen cupboard.

I love writing short stories and it was my pleasure to add this short story titled The Linen Cupboard to my current collection available for your reading pleasure.   When my mother passed away more than 25 years ago I truly was okay leaving her home; that is, until I knew it was time to empty her linen cupboard.   This personal experience
is the inspiration
for this fictional story.

The Linen Cupboard - a short story is free for your reading pleasure in the Kindle Store on Friday, March 2nd.

Small Town Authors/Rhymes and Times Remembered

It's true that personal issues and events have consumed my time and attention over the past several months.   One result of this inattention is that I've ignored a couple of my blogs; one titled Rhymes and Times Remembered and the other titled  Small Town Authors.

Author, Bela Kaul, brought this to my attention yesterday when she asked, "Are you still offering opportunities for authors to promote their books on http://www.smalltownauthors.blogspot.com  ?

Now I'm happy to announce that Bela Kaul is February's featured author; sharing an excerpt from her latest book, Beyond Boundaries on Small Town Authors.

Would you like to be featured author on this site for March or  April?   If so, contact me, audrey@persona.ca  and it shall be done.

Just send me your short story or your novel excerpt along with a short bio and, if you wish, a photo of yourself.

Are you a poet who would like to share a poem or two on my poetry site, http://www.rhymesandtimesremembered.blogspot.com  ?   If so, contact me and I will be happy to put your poem onto my site.

I do not edit, neither do I critique.   What you send to me shall be posted.

Writers helping writers is what it is all about!  ☺

Learning

A few days ago I didn't know what a podcast is.   Today I am learning how to record one.

Life is like that sometimes.  The right thoughts, the right people with the right ideas, just seem to be there.   It's like the old saying, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

In the past 2 or 3 weeks I was happy for writing friends who were announcing and celebrating their first audio book publications.

This led me on a journey; a journey that now finds me with my own audio book in production,  (thank you, Earl Sewell),  and the beautiful cover for When God Gives Us Spring already created and uploaded.  (Thank you Yuneekpix.com).

A good friend visited yesterday.  I asked, do you know how to record a podcast?  Well, I certainly asked the right person.    And I will spend a good part of today seeing just how much I will remember of his generous teaching.  (Thank you, John).

I'm hoping I can produce a promotional podcast for what will soon be my first audio book.

Once I have achieved this goal, I'm thinking maybe I can learn to narrate some of my own stories?

So I'm challenged on this new learning curve; excited by this new adventure.

There have been many times throughout my life when I've been in situations I didn't know how to handle --   if there is anything I have learned, it is that I am capable of learning.

Life is good and life goes on.

Emotional Healing through Meditation, the Chakras and Psychospiritual Therapy

BASE CHAKRA is located at the base of the spine. This energy centre is your survival centre, your connection to the earth, your human-ness. When we think of the base chakra we associate it with the colour red.

SACRAL CHAKRA is located below the navel. This energy centre is the centre of all desire; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. When we think of the sacral chakra we associate it with the colour orange.

SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA is located just above the navel and below the breast. This energy centre is the centre of will, determination and perseverance. When we think of the solar plexus chakra we associate it with the colour yellow.

HEART CHAKRA is located between the breast bone and the neck. This energy centre is the centre of unconditional love; love of self and others. A fond reference to the heart chakra is, “the place where heaven and earth meet.”
This fond reference is used because the base, sacral and solar plexus chakras are all energy centres associated with our human-ness whereas the next three chakras are considered centres of a spiritual nature. When we think of the heart chakra we associate with it the colours pink or green.

THROAT CHAKRA is located in the area of the throat. This energy centre is the centre of all forms of communication and creativity. When we think of the throat chakra we associate with it the colour blue.

BROW CHAKRA is located in the centre of the forehead. This energy centre is the centre of our understanding. When we think of the brow chakra we associate with it the colour indigo.

CROWN CHAKRA is located in the top centre of the head. This energy centre is the connection to your higher self and to your Higher Power. When we think of the crown chakra we associate with it the colour purple or white.

    How did it happen?

How did it happen that too many Canadian officials and Canadian policies stopped caring about the sick, the poor, and the elderly? Not to mention the animals ..... The elderly too often are the sick and the poor. The cost of caring for pets makes it very difficult for many that would be wonderful pet owners if only they could afford the expensive food & health care for animals.

What are we doing to help the elderly stay in their own homes? Why aren't there programmes to help with shopping; snow removal, that kind of stuff for seniors who often leave their homes only because they can't do these jobs anymore.

PSW's have a heck of a job; on very low pay they are expected to often be alone with so many patients in need of care. We have doctors who can't diagnose yet don't want to give referrals. We have nurses who are tired from working too long hours on difficult shifts.

I could rant all day but enough is enough. How did it happen? How is it that we are going so wrong ... in the wrong direction? Yes, the middle class can use some help but help is what is most needed by the sick, the poor, and the elderly...... and the animals.
Yes, I write about social issues.  I write about the poor, the sick, the abused, the elderly, and the animals.   I write about them because I care about them.
People don't want to read about the shocking sadness of social issues personified?
People don't want to think about them?
People don't want to know about them?
If things keep going the way they are currently,
    one day
you may be one of them.

It's time to start thinking about how we can help
the poor, the sick, the elderly......
    and the animals.
