3-Day Novel Competition -- plus CommuterLit.com

Check out http://commuterlit.com    Today my brother, Ray Austin's short story titled The Surprise Visit has been picked as a favourite for Re-run Friday.  Congrats, Ray!

I also have some short stories published on the same site so if you have the time after reading my brother's story, check mine out too and I hope you enjoy them.

Tonight at midnight the fun begins -- Wish me luck with the 3-Day Novel Contest -- somehow between midnight tonight and midnight Monday I will attempt to write a novel, minimum 25000 words -- To me it sounds impossible but hope I can meet the challenge. I'm going to give it my best shot! Good luck to all my fellow competitors especially Kayt who does not need to hear it from me as she was last year's winner! Way to go Kayt and here you go again! I will be overjoyed if I can meet the minimum # of words; never mind it actually being a good story. lol
Let the ink flow :-)

Northern Ontario Poetry Competition ....

I'm very excited to learn today that three of my poems titled: Eleven,Eleven; To Be a Daniel and In the Mirror have been selected for publication in White Mountain Publishing's Northern Ontario Poetry Competition anthology titled "Arising from the Mist".

Book Launch takes place in Sudbury Saturday, September 8th. At that time competition winner(s) will be annnounced.

Congrats to poet friends, Greg Laurenceson and Linda Duke who also have poems selected for this anthology :-)

WynLit 24 and 3-Day Novel Contest ...

The WynLit 24 writing competition this past weekend was really a lot of fun and because my short story's subject matter fit in so well with the novel on which I am currently working --  Ellen and The Hummingtree -- I have been able to integrate it into my book thereby creating another chapter.

And now I am gearing up for my first foray into the 3-Day Novel Contest happening this coming weekend - September 1, 2 and 3rd.   No outline prepared yet but some faint ideas -- think I may attempt to write something a little romantic this time.  Wish me luck!

Sara and Reawakening on Amazon.com

I was pleased to get the phone call from my publisher this week letting me know that more copies of both  Sara, a Canadian Saga  and Reawakening have sold through Amazon.com

It is exciting to know that not only are my books selling in North America but also they are enjoying some sales in the United Kingdom and Germany.

I know that  E-books are favoured these days but keep in mind for those who, like me, still want the feel of a real book in their hands I do have copies of both books as well as my short story anthology titled The Silent Star plus a Dozen on hand.  Just email me if you wish to purchase a copy.

I continue to work on what I hope is the final re-write of Ellen and The Hummingtree which will be my third novel.  Susan Ruby K. of Yuneekpix.com  has completed not only the cover for Ellen but also some brilliant illustrations which will be found throughout the book.

Ellen holds her father's journal close to her heart.

We still plan to have the Elliot Lake launch fall of 2012 and my publisher, Wynterblue Publishing Canada, will be publishing Ellen and The Hummingtree  on line as well soon after the paperback launch.

Thanks to those of you who have left positive comments about my on-line books in your reviews on Amazon.com   Much appreciated. :-)

And I'm sending best wishes for success to my friend and local author, Gloria Hansen, who is compiling personal written contributions from Elliot Lake residents who will share how the recent mall collapse impacted their lives.  I'll post on this site to let you know when her book is available for sale.
